Hi, it’s Shawn with Abernathy Roofing and Construction. Today we’re talking about how long it should take from start to finish for solar. So you decided to go solar how long until you can start saving on electric bills?
First, you must go through site assessment and system design. Before the company can install your panels, they must design a system that fits your roof. This stage can take anywhere from one to two weeks.
Next, you will go through permits and net metering. Once you approve a design, your city and local authority must also approve it. Depending on your local government, this can take anywhere from three to four weeks.
Then you get to installation. This is the most exciting and quickest step. This typically takes three days or less to complete.
The last is the permission to operate. Unfortunately, after the installation, you can’t just flip a switch and start using electricity from your panels. Your city will need to inspect the installation and ensure it’s up to code, and the utility company will perform a final inner connection which could take anywhere from three to eight weeks.
Overall the whole process can take anywhere from two to three months, but it will be well worth the wait once you see those savings adding up. Contact us, and we’ll help you with your solar installation.
